Overview
Dr. June M. Chan is a leading researcher in cancer prevention and public health, with a focus on how lifestyle factors—such as diet, exercise, and genetics—influence prostate cancer progression and survivorship. Her work aims to identify modifiable risk factors to improve patient care and inform public health strategies.
She leads multiple clinical and translational studies, including trials on exercise and diet interventions for men with prostate cancer. She also collaborates on research involving bladder and colorectal cancer survivors and is launching a digital cohort study, Eat Move Sleep, to engage under-represented cancer survivors.
Dr. Chan has played key roles in major research initiatives such as CaPSURE, SELECT, and PASS, and has mentored over 40 trainees. At UCSF, she serves as Vice Chair of Education in Epidemiology & Biostatistics, teaches epidemiologic methods, and is active in university leadership and national research collaborations.
